Blade Shale rest on dark brown Coriferous at 1105. 165- a short distance south- ward, is first of the road Black Shale rests in the Corrif. crums at 1095. The total Thickness of the Coriferons is 8 ft 6 in. The upper 32 inches are dark brown with white crinoidal remains. Below is a 4 inch layer of chert. The lower 5 ft 6 in consist of hard white lime- stone, sparingly crinoidal. The Coriferous rests di- recty on the Madison beds. 166- Half a mile southward, just before reaching a junction with a road coming from the north- East, the Black Shale rests in the Coriferous at 1085. The typical Madis- on beds are directly be- neath the Criniferons 127 167.-Returning by another fork of Pipes Creek towards Perrico; about 2 miles and a half from Perrico Black Shale rests in the Coriferous, at 1075. The Coriferous is at least 5 ft 6 in. thick. At the base of the Coriferons is a 1-2 inch layer with Ambr- colia. Directly below is a lower Silurian layer with branching bryozans and 168.- About a mile and two- thirds from Perrico the Black Shale rests in the Coriferous at 1090 169.- Within half a mile of Pe- ricle the Black Shale rest in the Coriferons at 1142. The Coriferous rests direct- lly on the Madison. The Madison beds show a strong southward dip.
