southward while the Cnife is almost level. I should be noted in this connection that still farther south- ward at 12, the Cniferous rests on the Madison above the Calamispora bed. (139) About 1/2 mile west of the New Market pike the Black Shale rests on the Cniferous at 965. The Cniferous thick rests di- rectly on the typical Mad-i son beds. See observation above, what for they tally. Far- ther East, on the south side of the road, the typical Mad- ison is well exposed, slip- ping eastward. (140) A short distance south in the junction with the New Market pike the Black Shale rests on the Cnifer- erous at 962. Lebanon to Riley, Gravel Switch, Mitchellsburg. 125 Sel-ann 1000 161.- About 2 miles east of Seba- nun a road turns off south- ward at a black smith shop, a stream in the field NW of the shop shows Madison rock dipping SW.1065. The same rock is shown in a new- dug well just west of the next railroad crossing going eastward. 162. Half a mile south ward, up a hill east of the road, the Saur Dilarian richly fossil- iferous rocks in situ are overlaid by Cniferous dbris in the soil at 1115. The Wurchinqua bed is found near the foot of the hill. 1115 LS 163- About 3 1/2 miles east of Sel-ann, east of another railroad crossing, Mad-i son rock is overlaid by de- bris of grey crinoidal Cniferous and cherty Cniferous at 1100. 164. Four miles east of Sel-ann a road starts eastward, just south of the Railroad
