About 2 miles N.E. of Liberty
up a gully in the north
side of the road, where
the Liberty-Huntenville
road first approaches the
river going east. The
Black Shale rests direct-
ly on the Madison beds.
A thin bed in the Madi-
nian 15 feet below the Black
Shale, contains numerous
Lower Silurian fossils.
At least 30 feet of Madi-
nian beds are exposed
below this fossiliferous layer
down to the river level.
The appearance is up a little
run on Jim Adams farm.
(Colred, lives in Liberty.)
