1927 Anthony Green Heron - May 14 - 2 - 1 flying over marsh, 1 lighted on fence post about 36 ft. away - Mercd Marsh. Black-crowned Night Heron - 1 flying over marsh - May 14. Costs - many in marsh May 14. Arrest - one flying over marsh May 14. Black-necked Stilt - a few over marsh - fewer than Foster Terns, fewer than last year. Spotted Sandpiper - 1 on Merriam Lake May 13. Sandpipers (Western Sandpipers) - 50+ at Sea Cliff and Santa Cruz May 13. Hudsonian Curlew - 12+ ... ... (Sanderling?) The sandpipers ran out after the breakers and back again as breakers rolled in - Hudsonian Curlews stayed back on drier sand most of time. One Sandpiper ran back on dry sand and picked up a shell, took it out to high water line and ran back and forth with it in the edge of the water.
