1924 May 11. Tuberculosis still feeling. Commenced at 2 p.m. left for Yosemite - Drove to Merced. About sick with a cold. Weather beautiful. May 12. Left Merced about 8 a.m. for Yosemite. Fine warm weather. Both ends of road in excellent condition but middle part from below Cathay to Breezbury being workies and oiled. Many delays so we only reached El Portal by noon where we had lunch. Thus drove on into Yosemite making side trip to foot of Yosemite Falls. Reached Camp Curry, and went to bed for remainder of afternoon - May 13. Cold gone and feeling quite well. Visited Mirror Lake for sunrise (8:50), then Happy Isles. Then walked up to bridge below Vernal Falls. In afternoon visited the new Museum where Mr. Russell showed so many interesting things. Then went to Bridal Veil Falls to see it when sun formed rainbow lights. After dinner took a walk along river, listened to concert at Camp Curry and saw Fire Fall White Camellias and over Glacier Pt. Very warm day. Dog wood in full bloom. Spent an hour birding before breakfast. May 14. Left the valley at about 8 a.m. and reached Merced for lunch. Then drove to Los Banos, stopping to see water birds on way. Then thru Pacheco Pass at sunset when it looked very beautiful with many flowers in bloom - lavender brodiaea, coliseia, etc Spent night at Hollister. May 15. Drove by way of Watsonville to beach at Sea Cliff where we eat picnic lunch. In late afternoon drove up to Boulder Creek where we spent the night.
