1926 Spend most of morning at N. Lake - & 30's are . Waterbirds : Pied-b Grebe, Glaucous w. Gulls, White Pelican, Mallard, Ruddy Ducks (1 in full pl.) White-jr. Goose , Cackling (or Hutchins?) Geese, Coots (building nests) Land birds. Prev. res.: Zual (many), Sh.Sh. Hawk (1), Black Phoebe (1), Purple Finch (several) , House Finch (sev.), Green-backed Goldfinch. (several), Pine Siskin [large flock in jap. Tea Garden], Nuttall Sp.(many), Pt. Prius (? James (a few), Song Sparrow (most ab.), Spotted Towhee (a few), Yellow Throat (sev. heard) , W. Robin (several), Hermit Thrush (several), Bunch tits (ab), Check adeos (ab), Virginia War (many). Winter Visitors : Fox Sparrow, Myrtle Warbler (: w. White throats), Audu- bon Warblers (singing) , Hermit Thrush (several). Summer Visitors : Allen Hummingbird (most ab. several nests) Pileolated Warbler (many). 39 species. Mar. 27. Drove with Mrs. Burnett + Daughter this S. F. - Presidio, Cliff House, Golden Gate Park. Cool- quite - Mar. 28. Warmer - Many dut. and Y.C. Sparrows singing in Canyon. Hear Pileolated Warbler & Warbling Vireo - Gulls rose over Canyon for migration - Black-white mig tips; calling. Mar. 29- N. mid - duck came - took photos - no newets. Apr.1. Cooler. Apr.2. Went with ladies to Baumberg. - Balmy, overcast - Water very low, Glaucous w. Gulls; W. Gulls, Herring G., Bonaparte G., Nuttalls 20-30. Fulvous tree ducks ? 8-10, Hutchins?J Goose 1, Lt. Blue Herron 2, Coots, Argets 2, Black-necked Stilt 1, Long-billed Dowitchers 15-20, Least Sandpipers a few, Red backed Sonany some w. black belly, Western Sandpipers - large flocks - Greater Yellow legs many feeding by suneling bills aroundise this water.
