1926 on the table and then the male flew to the table. Immediately those just behind him flew, then others behind them. One female in the rear remained apparently on guard and did not come to the table till a male flew down and came back and gave her a little peck. Then she took her turn. At 12:30 a flock of about 30 Nuttall and Intermediate Sparrows came to bathe. The pool was alive with them as they plunged in from all sides and splashed the water in all directions. Jan. 25, 26. Very warm. Neighbors had trees sprayed with arsenate of lead. Too early, I believe. Jan. 27. Foggy- Jan. 28. Rain but not cold. Good steady downpour - much needed. Thrasher came to table - first time since I came home. Finished paper on Birds of a Classic Land- Cooper Club in evening. 1.7 in. rain. Torrents in evening. Jan. 29. Golden-crowned Knights near house. Jan. 30. Rain - Thrasher on table. 23-25 quail came to table for seed. Jan. 31 - Feb. 4 - Rain, rain, rain. Warm. Birds eager for food. Avg. numbers coming: 27 Snail, 2 Thrashers, 2 Titmice, 3 G.C. Sparrows, 3 Fox Sparrows, 5 Sp.Towhees, 3 Brown Towhees, 2 Wren-tits, 2 Song Sparrows. {3 Sp.Towhees banded} Thrush comes only for water. Berries gone. 1 Snail
