May 5. Warm. Bush tit's nest empty. young horn Found empty egg shells on ground under the nest where they had been dropped without carrying them farther. May 6. Rustic-backed Thrush singing. A Blue Jay alighted on the roof of the titmouse's box and put his head in at the hole while parents scolded. Warm - cloudy part of day. May 7. Reconnoitered in Lafayette region trying to find a chett but was not successful. No Wood Pheas or Cassin Vireos either. Found nests of Flicker (feeding young), House Wren (in split branch of tree) and Yellow Warbler in Willow (flying with seed fuzz). Young Black Chucks (4 or 5) out of nest. Rough-winged Swallow carrying leaves into hole in bank. Many House Wren Titmouse box emptied - Berkeley. May 8. Hained most of day. Choral Section concert. May 9. Cloudy. May 11. Cloudy morning. Cleared at noon. Last trip with bird class. Went into hills back of Livermore - Arroyo Murcho Road - Sonoran zone - Sycamores and Oaks in lower canyon. Higher up - Blue Lake. Many flowers: columbina, yellow shapersona, lilies, Globe tulips etc., and Dogger Pines. Found following birds: Killdeer (several pairs along stream-), 4 Red-tailed Hawks, Suggest Prairie Falcon (?) - Lrail, (ab.), Mourning Doves (ab.), Caly Woodpeckers, 1 Nuttall Woodpecker, Flickers, Black Phoebe, Moss Fern. Ash-throated Flycatchers (? per-), W. Kingbirds (very ab.) 1 meet in oak tree, Anna Hummingbirds, Allen Hummingbird,
