Apr.4. Clear. Light frost on calves shed. Fox Sp. Hermit Thrush, Audubon W. P-C.Knight still here. Warm but fresh cool breeze. 92 in. snow at summit -Only 68 in before these last storms (Mar.20). 1 Egg in Lutescent Warbler's nest. Apr.5. Clear, warm. Hermit Thrush, P-C Knight & Y-C Sparrow singing. Tolmie Warbler at end of Mosswood Rd. Found I could look into the Allen Hummer's nest from sleeping porch window. Baby birds several days old. Mother bird came at 1:20 - drove off Wrentit - then fed by regurgitation. At 1:40, she returns and fed both birds again. Noticed me as she flew away and hovers near a moment. 2 eggs in Lutescent Warblers nest. Several House Wrens on hill side outside of canyon. Paleolus Warblers. W.Flycatchers & Warbling Vireos common. Dullio migrating northward, with clear Apr.6. Walked up canyon. Beautiful warm day - 9:30-12. Found: Red-tailed Hawk, Flicker, Willow Woodpecker, Cal.Jay, Coast Jay, Meadow Lark, Brewer Blackbird, Allen Id., Anna Hb.,Black Phoebe, W.Flycatcher, Tit.Sparrow, Y-C.Sparrow, Song Sp., Linnet, Purple Finch, BrownTowhee, Spotted Towhee, Black-headed Grosbeak, Warbling Vireo, Audubon Warbler, Lutescent W. Paleolus W. Tolmie Warbler, P-C Knight, Bush Tit, Vigors Oven, House Wren, Hermit Thrush. Throater At home - Fox Sparrow and Titmouse. Audubon Warblers singing. Total 33. Apr.7. Very warm - light north-wind. And.W., Hermit Thrush, P-C.Knight seen, all singing. W.Gnatcatcher went thro' the garden in afternoon. Lutescent Warbler laid fourth egg- sitting. Mary & Mrs. Brooks came to tea.
