1925 Garden very beautiful with Francesa, Canterbury Bells, Linn Tong, Nasturtiums etc in full bloom - Mr. Heard had even trimmed out the dead wood from the trees. Aug. 1. Birds have been fed bird seed all the time I was away so they still come to feed. Among them are two banded birds, one a Spurred Towhee, the other a Song Sparrow. Two pairs of Druail trail a brood of young down to the 23 drinking fountain and critic a few up onto the table. Aug. 8. Robin bu llam corner Dwight & College. Aug. 10. Lutescent Warbler came for water, Lutescent with Bush- it in the trees. Blackheaded Grosbeak heard. Aug. 11. Olive-sided Flycatcher about. Thrasher singing. 6-12 Robins came into canyon to roost. Towhees told from watering Aug. 12. Willow Woodpeckers heard several times. Aug. 21, 23. Heard Tanagers, Alces R-b. Thrush, B-h. Grosbeak, Saw- Olive-sided Flycatchers, Black Phoebes calling near dairy - Sept. 4. Black-headed Grosbeak heard. Lutescent Warbler came several times to pool. Kingfisher heard over Swimming Pool - Sept. 6. First shower. Sept. 9. Russet-backed Thrush sang once near pool. Heard calling often. A flock of Bluebirds flew over. Barn Owls and Screech Owls heard calling at night. Oak trees in sad condition due to cut worms. Though trees were sprayed in the spring, the worms are dropping by millions. Druail took seeds from table but did not touch worms - Cousistings near Greenwood Terrace.
