Cliff Drive saw many Cormorants, a few Brown Pelicans and Heermann Gulls, Swallows (Barn and Cliff) and (Black Swifts? ) July 26. Drove over to Carmel where we visited Carmel Mission and Carmel Highlands with its beautiful castles on the rocky shores, then Pt. Lobos, then back through Carmel, over the 17 mile drive to Pacific Grove where we spent the night. Many Cormorants on Bird Rocks. July 27. Returned to Boulder - from fog to sunshine. Near Moss Landing Salt Works were fifty or more H. Phalar- opes. July 28. Alice returned to Los Angeles - July 29-30. Cleaned up Cottage and packed for the last time. Birds at Boulder Creek - seen casually - Kingfishers, Bluebirds, Chickadees, Purple Finches, Linnet, Towhees, Vireos, Yellow Warblers, Black Phoebe, (Olive sided Flycatcher, Grosbeaks, Russet-backed Thrushes (still singing), Juncoes. July 31. Drove to Berkeley - Beautiful day - Found house in excellent conditions except for slight injuries due to a basement fire to be repaired by Insurance Co.
