(1) has calyx lobes not- rower larger than (2) densely gland- pubescent outside the lobes inclined to be purple tinged. (2) has calyx lobes green very slightly or not at all gland-part outside. Stamens v very seen alike in fascicle, chan (1) calyx lobes inside of both are slightly gland-pubescent. spec #346 present. X 5-9-29 Asparagus Sprengeri, Regel p 73 B.M.G.C p 167 Southlands. F.l. seems to be this v not A. scandens, Thunb- in spite of fact that cladodes are frequently less than ½ in v never more than ¾ in long, acices lvs are in racemes (to ½ in), lvs us- ually straight v only slightly if at all curved v scales spiniferous. Fl are white; perianth, nary, style & filaments, v have pale lilac cast only because of the bright orange anthers. Fl ⅛ in long x 3/16 in wide on jointed pedicels never more than ¾ in long. Plant grows in poor soil and Purple Burlingame tree west bridge. Each fl subtended by brown bract as long as lower part of pedicel. No fragrance
