X ?? p.168 Not in B.M.J.C.P. 3-21-29 "Chrysobalanus pellocarpus" labeled Agri.Station no.5 entrance to dwelling. Shrub 2 1/2 ft. Fr. L.vlt. about 2 1/4 x 1 1/2 in. entire, very thick variety, glabrous dark green shining abovt., pale belot. Apex rounded, narrowed at base, petiole 1/2 in. stipe May. 8 20X shows dense reticulation of whitish veins, looking like mosaic below. Densipfe fr. 1/4 in x 1/4 in, drupe with thin corning, red ascending. But ovary looks inferior as there is flat circular mark at apex with remains of style in center. Pedicel bears marks of 2 small bracts (not opp.) but no sign of calyx. Pedicel slightly hairy. Seed splits into 2 lobes. Without the label I would have thought this perhaps. Raphiolepis integerrima, Hoke & Lan dee p.160 in B.M.J.C.P.377 which is dece 4-15-29. 3-21-29 Aelimeae polytachya, Mez. Fl.Aagri.Station.p.666 in B.M.J.C.P.145. # Descg 2-15-27 applies. Fl.bracts (if by that is meant and pointed probit in which fl.sits) is by no means exceeding the calyx neither are they minute. These bracts are not clearly distinct from rachis but appear as swellings in skin of the thick rachis alt but overleaping tthere: i.e. the one on left side is below brpsof one on right side. Bract is 1/4 in high. Calyx protrudes with ovary below protrudes 1/2 in above it. Bract vel calyx bright red, Corola flucial protrudes beyond Calyx.
