Pairs of lfts rather distant along petiole (at least the sides) of lfts 2 pairs are always far from touching. if not Helosciadium nodiflorum Koch perhaps one of the 2 Scirpus [Scirpus erecta Coello : Scirpus ecklonii Huds - S. angustifolium]. Found in fls fr. 9-17-34 ] 5-5-34 Eryophorum latifolium Hoppe Cate III 468 Bon 325, Bon H 504 Dill II "40, Sw I 93 Bud &v late stages (fr not ripe). Villeneuve Marsh. Noligules on upper & often on next lower lvs. Other char. correct except that now papillae or bristles not evident (20%) (P seems to remember seeing them last sum. mer.) First 2 subtending bracts & fls in line with the edges of the flattened stalks. This is evident by what Sw I means by "quer gestellt" 5-5-34 Maianthemum bifolium DC Bon 302, Bon H 495 = Maianthemum — F.W.Schmidt. Sw I/47 Bud, woods south? Norville also woods bet. Chicken farm & Pine Bridge. Fls opened in house. Dill (Coote) fls good with rounded sinus. Petioles 3-2.5cm mm. Fr B/17 does not remember M. canadense Deef & V.SA well enough for comparison.
