4-26-34 Narcissus augustifolius Curtis exf.
exsertus (Haw) = N. Augustifolius auct. hew. non
Curtis, and = N. rodolflorea auct. hew. non Salist.
SVK I 150. Ft. Ou Massillon. This is the white narcissus
common in this region and previously considered by
R.B.K to be N. porticus but acc to SVK the distribu-
tion admits only N. augustifolius exf. exsertus.
Stamens are inserted at two levels (the 3 being about
2mm higher on tube than the other 3). The effect of this
is evident acc to stage of fl. When fl first opens the tips
gentle show only slight difference in height (reaching
almost to base of red edge m crown); after delugesences more
reach the red edge v the 3 lowest are at [illegible] cream
only reaching to base of the 3 higher anthers. SVK aug-
gests this may happen sometimes but R.B.K less
mess found it otherwise. Segments oblate, broadest
(12-15mm) above the middle narrowing to 4-5mm at
base. When fl first opens edges may overlap slightly
to about the middle but the edges of the lower part very soon roll under so that segments look very
def. narrowed below middle (petals often twisted
into a position ± perpendicular to their original
plane), and are very far from touching.
Segments apiculate. Crown 10mm diam by 3mm
shallow^
x high (on outside), bowl shaped when fl fully opened.
Crown light green w/ yellow, crimped and
the def red edge crenate., clearly persistent tube
