evident. The following may be in part an explanation. 4-20-34 Viola memoria Neuman, Waldeck t. Musbeck = V. Riviniana x V. silvestris SWI 459. Fl. Planned frequent at edge of woods at upper eastern edge of the morrow. Fl. large with much the general look of V. Riv spur is thicker than in V. Riv but not as deeply grooved and does not tilt down as in V. silv. Calyx appendages large as in V. Riv. and the style is intermediate (see sketch under 4-19-34). This ident seems very probable. Spurs is same shade as the underside of petals, or slightly lighter, and hence considerably lighter than the upper side of petals. 4-27-34 Acer campestre L. Cote I 264, Bon 61, BTH 101, BMGC P 467, SWKI 444 Fl. Rhion During winter this tree observed with very def. "Korbflügel" (SWK) Note: All 4 of the local Acer can be seen together near "summerhouse" on path just above V-M farm. 4-27-34 Vinca major L. BMGC P 605, Bon 212, BTH 309 Cote II 546, SWKI 534 Fl. Cult at house below Rhion Mt. at station on path to V-M. Of l with V. minus L. Lm not variegated.
