Agropyrum — Beauv. BVH 548. Fr. thin. Broke easily
R-M. Infl hardly nodding. Glumes strongly nerved,
with awns 5-8 mm. (SVK says “3 mm.”). Lemmas
have nerves rather strong only at tip and awns
2-3 cm.
9-13-33 Festuca gigantea Vill Cate III 635, # 162, SWK

east R-M. (Better spec. found Caux-Litron 9-15-33). Infl at
first ± contracted nodding but later becomes con-
spicuous (among bluegrasses) by each branch.
strongly downward deflexed (not shown in illus).
Spikelet well filled (Bon) but ill (BVH) and (Cate) give the
infla leaves look than in spec found, and spikelets
2-3 and sometimes 5 fld also parts undeveloped
rudiments. Lemmas 6-7 mm long; awns 10-15 mm., de-
lisate, not straight, conspicuously exerted beyond spikelet.
