Cones greyish brown, not at all shining. Seen earlier below V-M farm. 9-10-33 Clematis heracleifolia DC. B.M. & CP 276 Fl young fr. Val-Mont Cult. Ifts cuneate at base..Fls 5/8 in long, al- most white but with faint tinge of blue outside; fru- gnant. Plant mainly glabrous, but lvs pub on veins beneath. Sts & infl short downy pub.; ovary pub. 9-12-33 Calamagrostis varia Host. SVAT 55 = C. montana Noot Cote III 564, =C. montana DC. Bon 354. Fl v fr. Mion brok east of V-M. The slightly erect awn show little sign of being bent but since glumes lemma, palea & glumes are practically equal and rachis is prolonged into a lance footy "footstalk" and basis at base of lemma only slightly shorter than lemma and awn offixed near base. This ident. seems sure. Infl erect, 14 cm long, contract- ed, branched from fl6cm or much shorter (the shorter ones bearing spikelets very near base) Glumes 4-5mm acute-acuminate. Lvs dark green, to 12 mm wide, long-acuminate & lustr. C argentea DC.
