Caroplane pubescent 3mm high... 1vs subtend- ing lower peduncles (are these the bractees which Bon csays should be 3 mm or less?) to 6mm wide; upper also narrower. 5-24-31? Viola cornuta L. Corte I/57, Box 37, BMGCPS08 FL Cult Garden Val-Mort (from dining room). FL large, bluish-purple, appendices of sepals 4 mm (at least), slender spur 12 mm; all also truncate a slight- ly cordate (not narrowed at base). This acc to Bon 37 points to V. cornuta L. Also stipules dilati. BMGCPS 508: (Buxet, lvs acute v not at all acuminate B.419c.P.) Note however stipules more like ill. V. audetica Willd Corte I/57 & their small lower lobes might be called reflexed. Plant glabrous. V. audetica Willd not given Bon, perhaps = V. lutea Huds B8H 5X given as form of V. tricolor L. Lower petal with touch white at very base, no yellow. Petals stand apart without overlapping. 5-24-31? Crataegus shrub (perhaps 10 ft) in H.V with every look of C. but only fewg with lvs collected. Cf lvs with C. monogyna g(5-21-31) & C. oxyanthoides (5-28-31) Highway bet Chan- bataud & Veylaux near where it crosses "log-shoot". Young growths pub. with straggling hairs. Lvs thin
