5-12-31 Potentilla aurea L. Cote II 25, Bon 99. FL Bet Soloup & Chambry. Perhaps near Gentiana vernal. Several bundles from root, each neatly completely wrapped in the brown stipules of old leaves, some of all petioles also remaining, upper parts of stem and all branches similarly wrapped at base, no plant more than 3 in high. Longest lft 2 cm. ?Fl Indian. Bracts almost or quite as long as sepals but narrower. Carpels greenish, styles rich yellow. Filaments variable, a rather lighter yellow. Disc. Cote excellent. Petals free or than long with edges meeting at base. Cf w/ P. verna L. with petals slightly larger than broad, edged def. separated at base. 5-12-31 Gentiana verna L. (See 5-7-31) FL Highway Orgevaux to Chambry at about alt. of Soloup. 5-12-31 Ranunculus nemorosus DC. Cote I 30, Bon 9. FL Bet: Soloup & Chambry. Pro b/ w/ Gentiana verna. Plants to 11 cm high. Evidently perennial with thickish white roots and many more or less erect filiform one brown fibre. Leaf at. with silky albut a quite appressed pubescence. Lobes not 3 in ceras, like all (Cotes) of R. nemorosus or R. montanus. Each tooth has minute white dot of tips barely vis- ible to naked eye. Peduncle grooved. Receptacle hairy. Caraxes with beaks curled over into be- ginning of a spiral, glabrous, perhaps be hindered.
