8-25-31 Clematis Fl. Clin. Rock west of Clin just beyond. 1 spec only. Had been cut so only 2 branches 11in long remain. sunken red at point attachment. Plant has fresh green glaucous look, but st pedicelent with upward curled hairs & low pub- erulent both sides rather erect hairs. Lvs to 5.5 x 3cm lower lvs smaller, ovate, rounded apiculate at apex, narrow- ed at base into short petiole. Zippers ho oblong lanceolate, sharpened at apex & serrate with faint signs of teeth. Lower fls not developed only ½ as long as subtending lvs (3 ½ cm high to top of calyx). Petals yellow, almost of triangular with rounded corners, apex flattened & slightly wavy (not def left) 20 x 23 mm. Calyx tube 1/4 in vary 1/25 mm. Sepal ap- pendages 4-5mm. Stamens seem all of equal length, shorter than corolla. Stigma + parted. A few longer hairs on it have small green tuberculate base. Capsule subeggiate large & stiffish hairs, the oldest one now 17mm high ! See O. diensis, Cote II-82, P.M.-105, B.V.H #194 & II #196, A 598, B.M.G.P.550, S.v.K.I. 490 the chief difference which is "bracts shorter than or scarcely exceeding the capsules". alliaris folia, weid 8-25-31 Campanula parviflora Lam.: B.M.G.C.P.74 & S.V.K.II:559 Fl.v variegated Cult.
