8-5-31 bracts very broadly spatulate, concave wide with thickened green spot on back above and broad scarious margin (top sides) very often. Outer sepals much like bracts, inner sepals narrow- er, beaked: all with few hairs. Corolla (in anthesis) pale brown. (see 9-16-34) 8-5-31 Viburnum opulus L. (see 5-29-31) F-♀ turning red. Caux 8-5-31 Lathyrus niger Bernk (see 6-8-31), F-♀ nigris but part. full size. Seeds rather rectangular, the hilum occupying ½ side (i.e. ⅓ of circumference) and attached to pod about middle. 8-5-31 Lathyrus silvestris L. (see 7-16-31) Caux-Alive. F-♀ & ♂ nigris but part. full size. Pods 50 x 10 mm. Hilum attached to pod nearer one end. 8-5-31 Leontopodium alpinum L. (see 7-17-31) F-♀ bought by M. Lange (S/Kimmer). Heads sometimes mostly ♂ fi- dsexual flo whence yellow-green-yellow; sometimes mostly ♂ & flo hence white with filiform stigmas prominent. But even the ♂ heads which in bud bear papery bracts.
