8-3-81 Panicum miliaceum L. Corte III 549, Bon 352. 8/04, BM CP/09 SUKI #61-F. Olive just beyond P.Pm road to Les Avants. Fibrous roots thick. Several thick stalks to 2½ ft. low to 2.5cm wide, rough on edges. Ligule has erect (ring?) hairs (red joined at base) Branchlets of infl. rough. Spikelet 5mm. Green scales 3-1next 3.5mm, 5-nerved, ovate, embracing sharply acute, 2nd & 3rd almost equal 13-15 nerved, longer. than the barren empty fertile lemma v palea. The 3rd scale subtends a small whitish member: the sterile palea. 8-5-31 Plantago indica L. SUKI 621, = P. arenaria Waldst & Kit. Corte III 145, Bon 259 Flvs. Olive Path at side? Tovaux (1 plant only not observed elsewhere.) Strong tap root 2½ in long. 2&3in high, so strong without it might have been called "woody," and at or near its base numerous branches spreading horizontally to 6in. Plant gray-green rough-pubescent but not glandular (Corte). Lvs ofp. linear & slightly larger above middle, to 35 x 2 mm, entire, bearing tufts of smaller lvs & branchlets in their axils. Fl-heads on peduncles to 6 cm from axils of lvs at ends of branch- lets. Heads ovate 10x8mm. Lower bracts broad or narrow lvs with long spreading tips (much like ill P. Cynopol. Des.) not as long as ill P. arenaria (Corte). Eye speer tracks
