Chamoussal, abia Cbalet. (a) 22 in high, st glabrous v sharply ridged (ridges lighter- colored [2x] v thin). Petioles | lower lobes 4 in long, their very narrow wings sparsely fringed with linear teeth. Blades glabrous, lanceolate to 10 x 4 cm, elong- ate above the heart shaped base, irregularly toothed with sharp, white tipped teeth, which on lower part are spreading with rounded sinuses. Infl terminid into very small almost sessile lateral head 2 in below. Head (lower % flattened) 5 cm high, dark blue. Stigmas 3, the broadened bases of filaments ciliate v pubescent inside. Bracts narrowly under head small, lanceolate, entire, shorter than flo, inconspicuous. For more at front sort. (b) Like (a) but lobes rather narrower. Head in bud (lower flo colored but not opened) 2.9 cm long. (c) & 25 in. Like (a) except that lobes are narrower at base (not more than 2.3 cm), obliquely truncate at base, sparsely pubescent, almost regularly crenate (petioles almost wholly lacking tooth-like ap- pendages). Corolla slightly hairy inside. (d)
