Hauson upper side? very stiff but hardly spiny. Low cuts rather the winged mid-sit is about same well as the almost entire segments which are abruptly spine tipped. Spines on lower segs v dentate, axil- dear very stiff & wounding. Headmons (with no fls seen) edulous-like with the spreading purple lips of tracts imbedded in velvety hairs. 7-22-31 Malva rotundifolia L Cate I/297, Bon 53, BVH 89, #568 which surely = M. neglecta Wallk &V I 449. Fl's unripe?e. Chamosselas? Petals white v smaller under, ## 13x7mm, glabrous except at very base and claw ciliate at base but less densely v silky than M. silvestris (7-19-31) Axis fls flat, +monandrian. Examined tube, filaments & anthers white, stigmas
