closely appressed against the slightly flattened compressed raceme, but the 3 lower nodes may have 2 branches v 3-5 spikelets (pedicelled vessels) and the uppermost nodes bear only pedicelled spikelets. Branches 2 1/4 - 1 1/2 in long, bearing spikelets to within about 1 cm base. Spikelets appressed to branches, about 1 cm long, to 8 fld. Glumes scarious (yellowish) 1-nerved, very obtuse; not at all lower glume 1.7 mm, upper glume 2.5 mm. Lemma convex (not beaked) 4 mm long, 7-nerved, not quite smooth, with apex of lace v series.
