6-24-88 Indigofera Gerardiana Grak, BM CP 417 Shrub (Leguminosae) fl. Dr. Reynolds yard. Young growth which bears fls. white v single with upraised white hairs attached in middle, 2 to 3 1/2 -4 in. overall with 11-17 lfts. all def. stalked v usually with short awl-shaped stipel, the terminal lft being stalked v attached to a prolongation of the rachis almost as long as the section of rachis between lfts. Stipules subulate about 3 mm. long. Lfts. ovate or obovate, entire, rounded v acuminate at apex, 3/4 x 3/8 in., rich green above, gray green be- neath, both sides with hairs like at fl. Fls red- purple in racemes 4 in. long. Pedicels very short with small subulate deciduous bracts. Calyx reddish with broad shallow sinus above so that the 5 teeth seem mostly on lower side, the middle one longest (Calyx measured here is 2+ mm. long. Calyx pubescent, tubular v fitting closely to ovule in bud, but spreading esp. ecially below when corolla opens and perhaps shriveling later. Reel's wings can be seen only in bud as they fall quickly after corolla opens. Reel a little longer than wings, obuse, silvery rose pubescent toward upper edges outside and with a wavyed. apur on each side. Wings lighter colored than Reel. Standard clawless, with a light spot, inside, at very base, 10 x 8 mm.
