6-19-31? Dianthus Carlinsianorum L. Cote I 191, Bon 47 = D. c — L. BM CP. 263 FL Montana via Dr. Trueman. Fls &b only. Sts 3-9 in high, rather obscurely 4-sided. Lvs 2-4 pair, the upper pair sometimes very close under fl-head. Lvs linear, acute shorter (usually multidentate) than internode, rather glaucous, the longest pair 3cm x 3-4mm, single-edged, with a narrow yellowish-white margin at base which makes a line extending down into sheath. Sheaths 6-10 mm long & about 4 times as long as wide. Fls almost sessile in heads of 3-6 (some often undeveloped). Scales straw colored & straw consistency, slightly ob- rotate about 9 x 4mm abruptly terminating in sharp point of about 1.5mm midway on calyx. Scales have nervo extending from point maybe more to base, but edges of scale thin v nervules. These scales seem 3-5 free each fl and in addition there seems to be a pair exactly similar under the fl-head & under each group of fls in the head. Calyx about 13 mm high with many nerves, very reddish Corda 15 mm diam. Petals more less magenta with somewhat darker lines v hair toward base of blade. Anthers fertile.
