Particle (o.t.s.) spreading and plant mistaken for A. hygans the branches quite v less diffuse, but the back awn is unmistakable even today, projecting 1mm or more beyond tip of H. All blades v even the upper blade only a little more than 1mm wide at most. Ligule 1-2 mm long. [See 8-7-37 7-24-37 ? Agrostis perennans Tuckerm G/133, BvBI 206 (or poss A. Schweinitzian Tein BvBI 206 which first is inc. in A. perennans G/133) This is the weak lax grass, decumbent, with its ample silvery-green panicle (fls not yet open) still included at base in upper leaf-sheath. It suggests at first a former early stage of A. hygans but the longer awns (to 3½ mm) bro. giving it a quite diff. look seems to preclude this. Also particle has branches divided down to or even below middle caplets numerous. It very likely could look much like BvB'silly A perennans when open. Spikets of this and A. hygans and A. canina (except for awns) show no marked differences to R.B.T. Ligule fully 3 mm or more. (Too long for A. Schweinitzii are 1½ BvB) Somt differing in this from A. hygans Both above old with h. alba & A. hygans col 7-24-39 [7-27-37] ? Spec of A. perennans v A. hygans
