7-24-37 Carex tenella Schkuhr G 225 = C. disperma Dewey BvBI 372. In woods at end of path to upper pool. 7-24-37 ?Carex vesicaria L. G 205; BvBI 438 Dump Pool almost at end of path to upper pool. Ident questioned only because not listed from Mfld. Shape & perigynia, its length (fully 7 mm) vs wild (5-6 mm) all are against the poss. ? var. monile. W.B. Upper spikes often ♂ at tip. [Lower sheaths become filamentous as they dry] 7-24-37 ?Carex crinita hum var gynandra Schwein. G 230: C. gynandra Schwein BvBI 425 River edge at end of path to upper Dump Pool vales about half way along path. (See 8-20-30 which prof was the same.) ♀ spikes dropping; perigynia inflated. If sheaths rough hairy would seem to establish identity. But leaves & flo abruptly awned (BvBI) Note also sheath with a deep inward fold on one edge very like Goill # 560 p. 206 (?) C.Tueckermani). Culms longer (often much longer than bro) but over topped by the lfy bracts. Some culms bear no ♂ spikes but bear a few ♂ float tips & ♀ spikes. Other culms bear 2 ♂ spikes (in one instance a ♂ spikeless has a few ♀ float base. [W.B. 8-21-37 Not all sheaths show the "inward fold" mentioned above]
