Pyrus melanocarpa Willd. G 459 = Aronia - Britton. B.B # 71. Bud. Sp. Blk Trail. prob with above. Lvs just appearing. Mid-rib gland. ulose above, glabrous beneath except on edges x pedicels. Inflo. almost glabrous. Calyx lobes very woolly inside. 6-20-29 [?] Vaccinium pennsylvanicum Lam. G 639] Ericaceae. Prob a blue huckleberry. Buds very young lvs. Spec. wildy twig 5 in. long. Sp. Blk Trail. Perhaps with Kalmia polifolia (above). St. green, warty with whitish spots, with minute pubescence which seems to be in 2 lines. The bracts at base of pedicel are ovate, glabrous, with an awl-like appendage just back of tip which is concave & minutely (20x) toothed. Bract, exclusive of appendage, 2mm x 1mm. Pedicel 1mm, pubescent. Calyx glabrous entirely, glabrous, its ovate lobes 1mm deep. The 10 stamens on short flattened filaments which show no signs of pub- escence. Anthers prolonged in tubes upward but not awned. Corolla still green with brown tinge & red on
