??? 6-20-29 Seneio Early bul. Sp. Blk Trail. If S. pass. S. discoidens G854, BvBII 544. Glabrous except for brown wooliness edging petioles basal v lower lo. v whitish wooliness in axils upper lo. v similar hair (prob. a. condensuora) on young lo. v in inflor (perhaps bracts of invol). Basal lo 1x1½in. reniform volicules, rounded at apex v cordate at base (hence not like ill. discide S. St. distant by eff. to top lo. becoming lysate (number of lateral segments increasing toward top.) Petiole upper lo. narrowly winged v expand- ed at base into toothed, clasping ears. Heads discrep. Bracts of invol. woolly ciliate v purple at tip [N.B. 8-2-29 Since this was in early bud it may have had rays not yet distinguishable. The rounded, cordate lo. strongly suggest S. aurea which is common on Darby's Blk. ep. in clearings. See 7-22-29 6-20-29 Chamaedaphne Calyculata Muench G 636, BvBII 687 Fl. Sp.
