8-13-29 Galium trifidum L. G 749, BvBI 264. Flyfs. At edge of beach behind Inn. St. Crossing. PrB this because ? habit ? growth ? fle. v slender arcuate pedicels. But pedicels (20x) seem quite smooth. St only very slight ly scabrous v low smooth on margins v mid-side. Low in 4's always, 5-10 mm long fle. usually 2 at a node (BvB) v not solitary (G). Plant very weak & reclining. [8-19-29 Flyfs. Bet Highlands Camp v mouth of Buttes Rte. St., low and at least some of pedicels scabrous as they should be. # 95 8-13-29 Polygonum Flyfs. Beach behind Inn at St. Crossing. Since achene are visibly exserted prB. P. maximum or better P. Fowleri Robinson G 358, BvBI 660. Like ill.) P. Fowleri (G v B.v.B) as to plant but more like ill.) P. maximum (G) as bract & achene as sepal tips are "spreading" rather than "closely appressed". Calyx lobes def. green with mostly white or sometimes faintly pink margins. Grown in a garden in the village. [7-31-30 Found as escape far from any garden.
