#76 8-13-29 Plantago Unripe fr. In sand & beach behind Inn St. Crossing Lvs shaped like P. major but not larger than 1/2 in x 1/4 in. Pubescent both sides v soft to touch; right. Scapes to 2 1/2 in. high, noticeably hairy. Pyxis is ovoid, circumsessile rather below middle. Seeds several (7 in one counted). Calyx lobes with thick green centers (narrow in the inner zones) v wide decurive margins. P. major L. G 445; BvB III 2 45 (only small in size) 8-13-29 Atriplex patula L. (or A. — var hystata Gray) G 36 & inc in A. hystata L. BvB II/8 17. Flower very young fr. Beach behind Inn St. Crossing (also 8-14-29 on Plate Set. Inn v R.R. toward Bridge). Purple, to 5 in high. Fls. in glomerules as small (tend to be mostly ♂ with a few ♀.) Fruiting bracts show no tubercles as yet. St. lvs. more or less scurfy v base & glomerules densely covered with crystalline droplets. [8-19-29 Fl. young fr. Bluffs bed months.] Buttes Bk v Highlands River. Prostrate. Some bracts tubercled. 8-13-24 Sagina procumbens L. G 379, BvB II 51 F2. Seeds not smooth but no glands visible (20x). Capsule about length of sepals or not more than 1/3 longer. Sepals valves 4.
