#25 8-13-29 Eleocharis ovata A.V.S.G182, BVI 818 F2. Brackish marshy flats by R.P. in front of Dun St Crossing (see 6-28-29) Culms slender to sinuigle Scalae adscise. Achene smooth, brown, shining, inverted pyiform but 2 mm long. Tubercle not more than 1/4 as wide as achene, higher then broad. But bristles few v rarely as long as achene. (often about 3/4 as long), downwardly barbed. [E.uniglumis Schultes var. helophila Fernald v Rosellett. See Rhodora Apr. 1929. M.L.F. sees afree from same vicinity 8-13-29 Salsola Kali L.G370, BVI II 24 Eleocharis F2. Beach behind St. Crossing. Calyx wings as yet only strong ridges not as in ill. BVI 8-19-29 Euphrasia Raudii Robinson G133, BVI III 218 FL Beach behind Dun St. Crossing. Cf'd with E. americana common in vicinity. 1 1/4 in. or less high v often much branched into a dense little head. (see 9-25-29) Corolla 3 mm, yellowish [8-19-29 FL Near mouth] Butter Bks. Lvs mostly 7-toothed. Some of lower lvs. 5-toothed. Some of upper ones 9-toothed. Mostly about 6 mm long. Sts to 3 in. branched. Corolla white, yellow eyed, violet veins.
