Some hairs have the enlarged (but not red) bases Lower fls are certainly in axils of foliage lvs. #60 7-27-29 Mentha arvensis L. G7II, BvBIII/52 Bad Meadows along Trout Bk, perhaps at fishing hole. Not like M. arvensis of 7-25-29 nor like mint noted at F & P Cabin which is ptsd. M. arvensis was Canadensis [? 8-14-29 Fl. Rt from Crabber Station to Highland River Bridge. But calyx teeth not subulate (BvB) lvs not acuminate (G). Begin- nings of branches in upper axils below inf. Lower lvs purplish beneath. 7-27-29 Potentilla monspeliensis L. G482, BvBII/ 253. Early fl. Meadows by Trout Brook 7-27-29 Betula Well developed fs. Trout Bk. Medium sized tree. All lvs under 6 cm. hence perhaps B. alba L. G335. Otherwise var papyrifera Spach. Fluiting bract has lateral lobes rounded v at sinus somewhat overlapping the narrower ovate central lobe.
