From Montunes from Valdemar. (Bult abt 1 cndiam; bulb toor at. just btm bulb. St: 19 in high, lfy from middle. Blades sheath below thn 2 lv). valves as ferascan be seen when partly dry as "semi-cylindriques & canalic- ules" (Cote). Lvs 3 mm or less wide, the fine tips & uppers not reaching almost to tops of st. St. round, dark green, with smooth elegant look; thru microscope (20x) is covered with minute white dots. Lvs too dry to show original color. Head glbules 2½ cm diam. Perianth 5 mm high, the inner segs slightly longer than the outer & flattened acros tip. Outer segs a strong purple with greenish, slightly roughened heel. Inner segs. paler on edges v smooth on the greenish tipped down centers. Stamens well exerted. Inner stamens have filaments 4 mm.
