red jeep overhead) ident. quickly because the creeping
stems are thick woody branches not foliform (Bar + Cate)
(Possibly this plant spreading on rock slope, as seen.
Here there were other plants more as would be
expected - not R. because less easy to secure the
branches. Floriay and yellow stiliat. All the herba-
cious parts covered with short, white, closely applied,
suprapos pointing hairs (but plant could not be
called "canescent" N sis L. canescens HBK. BM 23716
(58). See Kat I 59). Outside bracts broadest below middle,
more or less lealed, de acute; other bracts broadest above
middle & abruptly acute. Bracts reddish towards tip.
The presence of the appressed hairs spoken of gives them
a slightly ciliate effect, similar to that of leafy
calyx.
