6-16-32 [See C. ampelopsorum L Bon 297, Cate III 339] FL
Son Vida. "A" This is C. J 5-13-32 which has since
been commonly in fields or roadside or under trip caps.
5-29-32 on way to Santa Cruz x on trips to Valdemora.
St 4 ft, lfy of its middle. FL-head globular, large (6 cm diam)
g very many flo. General effects darkish dingy
purple. Rosa says stamens of little dimensions in (5-13-32)
i.e. anther bearing point less than 1/2 the length of throat
of filament v the 2 sterile points more than over topping
the anthers. Stamens well exerted (the tops of the
broad parts of filaments show plainly color persists)
style about same length as these broad parts of filament
v therefore is expected beyond persistently this style
not look exerted (perhaps this was equally true 5-13-32)
Anthers same purplish tinge as perianths.
Note: this does not agree with desc. of C. ampelopsorum
as given in Bonor Cate. L or rougher edges placed
caps toward tip.
"B" St 9 in, lfy 1/3 length. FL head less dif globular, 3 1/2 cm
diam & only about 35 flo. FLs paler so that effect of
head is dingy white with the purple (a greenish)
stripes on backs of sepals showing plainly.
But in all other respects this seems same as
"A". This too has been commonly seen in Bellver
Valdevenilla, often much taller vith more
flo. Spathe now fallen v can't tell if originally long pointed
Conclusion: "B" v "B" 'all the forms between seen up
to date are the same.
