[Endoubtedly Citrullus vulgaris Delrod see 9-12-32]
underedges of stigmae are 3 erect glands
(or perhaps undersloped stamens). Fls
about 5/8 in across, the 3 filament separate
hairy at base, anthers characteristic of family.
Each peduncle bears at base an entire,
orbate, concave bract (pointed tip making
a slight hood) more nearly glabrous than
rest of plant. (Perhaps this bract only in axil
of flower or in axil of peduncle). Fls oral (at S)
with 3 def. parietal placentae.
PrB not in Kn, Bas, or Bon. (Only
possibility might be the watermelon see Citrullus
vulgaris Delrod BMJ C.P 736) [illegible] is
Astrardica Charantia L. BMJ CP 788.
