4-6-30 Mesembryanthemum edule L. BMJ C.P.289 Fl. Cult. Bellver. Fl very pale yellow, 3 indiam. But stgmas v cells [illegible] 2. Calyx of 2 large & 3 smaller lobes shaped like the No., the smaller ones bearing tissue remains of what was evidently covered on cordla in bed. Has dull dark green. Peduncle bears in middle 1/4 in above base & 1/2 in below base of fl 2 opp. lvs. similar to others. Belief that there are to be considered bracts 4-7-30 Mesembryanthemum Fl. Cult. Infanta's. Plant looks like smaller, 25th ed. thin fabor. Lvs opp & connate, more yellowish green than above, 1d 1/2 in. BL but less closely so, glabrous, smooth, no teeth or keel. Fl branch in axil of lvs bears 2 lvs near base in each of these axils a peduncle & pilose with a pair of lvs nearer & rising bet. these lateral peduncles, another 1 in long. Calyx like that of M. edule but smaller v after the like lvs. Fl bright purple (magenta) a little deeper than M. codefoliurn (see 3-10-30), Stgmas 5, vary 5-celled.
