This high, many branches from base some some- what decumbent. Root whitial. St. purpulesh esp at base. Leaves smooth but (20x) covered with tiny stippled downward curved hairs which are enlarged at base. Lvs apatulate narrowed to particulars base or oblong v sessile. the largest 1 3/4 x 9/16 in., obtuse, edges strongly suffled. Lobes smooth valvate beneath but above on edges have short stiffish hairs (20x). Lvs clasping within- ternodes enlarged just abov. Infl. dichotomous cyme (not always regular), peduncles except fl lowest fl shoot. Calyx whitial with veins v blunt more or less purple. Almost if not quite smooth but (20x) seems minutely tubercled. The round ciliate lobes about 1/3-1/6 length of calyx (12 mm.) in acestiation when calyx gradually enlarges from a truncate (not dimpled base) to a slightly constricted throat below the very slightly flaring limb. After acestate Calyx enlarges somewhat (not inflated) v blunt does not spread. Calyx beautifully veined: 5 veins ending in lobes, the other five branching in 2 just below the sinus these handles joining the enlarged ends of the 1st set of veins. Corolla dark rose, small, projecting beyond
