not at all stelay. calyx x 3mm. Petals notched (not deeply) Scale at base of limb divided to base in 2 broad rounded lobes 1/3 length of limb. Petals free as to claw & limb but seem to be joined just at base of limb. Longest stamenors & pistils extend barely beyond throat. Capsule antrth, oblong 8mm long, on a thick ridged stalk 4 mm long. Seeds brown, reniform, hollowed on side, a shallow groove making 2 rounded ridges on back. Back rugulose with low tubercles. 2-13-30 Carrichtera Vellae DC. Kn7 36 Bae 39. Flo unique fr. Bachwood to Palma. Stlyledons are incumbent or perhaps (since they may have unfolded in dissection) and duplicate. Seeds in fr. examined are 3 in each cell. Otherwise as desc. Note in addition that while flo waxy are upright the st. in fr. are deflexed and bent around st. so that the filaceous style is almost horizontal (curped upwards some- what) Fr. has stiff hairs on the nerves. Sepals convinent in bud & early fl. & calyx easily mistaken for gamosepalous. Fl small 8mm.
