This day is first month's fortnight. Frige hand left night. Sep 1 - 97 Wednesday Ataneskelduk. Another bail night and once swilling of the finger which now taken in most of the hand. No festuring of any kind has yet take place. I've decided to go this afternoon to see the Sw. of Darkalk, Jens Lang, and have him examine my hand. We leave in the whole boat, seven of us for Darkalk at 2.30 P.M. and arrive there at 6.30. The distance is probably eight miles. Be come surprised to see gring ice making in among a lot of ice broken from an iceberg. All came upon topics more pain. I purchased some of the natives a dog skin rug for 6 kroner, another one very fine muffs for 1 kroner, of the voyagers family one good muff for 1 Kroner and of his own a paddle for five kroner. The governor examining my finger and sage [illegible] to add on the blister which I noticed. He understands medical matter very well and advises water or piece cotton bound up in an oiled stick, paper. He said this would bring it to a head by tomorrow.
