their notes. For the return for the night.
Our oil has gone out and fire is now
made by drift wood picked up along shore and by
dead willow stems. It means more work for the
motives but we can hold out this way until we
reach [illegible] burn one out and last camp when
we have the gallon of oil.
Beautiful morning clear and no wind with superb
scenery all about. Freezing cold. Foggy like mist
and slimy warm.
Aug 26 - 77 Thursday West of Patost.
Had breakfast at 6 A.M. After writing our notes
White and I started in the high hills back camp. Climb up.
1400 ohm White found a plant but golden very
poor leaves. For return to camp, Mr. White
continued up to 2100 where he found more leaves.
The motives have found enough drift wood
to keep the fire going for meals. Have no water, moderately.
These beds continues up to 2320 feet where there
is a basalt bed of 75 feet under by 300 feet of
sediment and snow in these upper levels.
