When we took Rode a while in Reeves Riches sledge by his invitation then he overtook me. Shortly before him we came to the edge of the new ice depth and he went off on a tour of inspection that lasted an hour a more when he came back he started out into the new ice again and I had plenty of heart troubled for an hour or thereabouts. Then we had thicker new ice + some old ice + a very crooked and varied route till 4:30 when K gave the word to make camp at the base of a good sized ice berg. It has been a beautiful day, warm in the direct rays of the sun but the shade showed the cold all the same & for a little while in the afternoon we had a bit of calm NE wind - Sundays at 50°C. Have work with K knight all day. Just the boys and a few sheep. 17 April Tuesday B NWI
