Aug 31 In the morning collected in the Smir [illegible] limestone. About 30 feet above the base of this formation there is a seam of decom posed clast containing a number of species. Picked up all the material to be had. Spent the afternoon at the 5th trail bed and the horizon immediately above. Sept. 1- Spent the morning with Mr. Ger [illegible] on the bluff but did not see anything I did not know before. In the afternoon took a
