7-16-38? Desmodium pratense Robinson G 600; BMGP 557; S.C.Hill 2931: N. Mex.—Small, BvBTI 601. Some plants as 622-38. Fr falls before ripened. Capsule elevate (but not strongly so), the largest 10mm long on a pedicell of 8mm; capsule (except towards tip) w/pedicell into the long spreading white hairs that are found on styles. (BMGP and Gleee. O. frutescens capsules as glabrous or sparingly gland-puberulent.) G says D. pratense has capsules 'sessile'; BvB says 'sessile' and 'about 10 lines long'. BMGP vs S.C.H says 'sessile or nearly so' v Hortus says 'fr abort.' All S.C.H. good flower plant. But pods are linearis rather than hispid.

7-16-38 Hydrangea arborescens L. BMGP 328; G 450; BvBTI 291 Fl sterile v fertile. This is shrub planted east of kitchen door as 'Snow Ball'. The 10 stamens v 2 styles leaves no question as to genus v R.B.K is satisfied as to genus.
