5-28-38 petal 13 x 10 mm and scale less than 1mm long & wide, not nearly covering base of petal) Adv. adnece 2.5 mm wide. St deflours at base (leaves almost appressed) and with scattered appressed hairs on the somewhat grooved somewhat flattened stems above. B. Less luxuriant plants 10-12 in found scattered thru woods near house. Basal lbr (the very lowest) small divisions not stalked. Seems surely same species as A. Roots as thick but no thicker than P. acris. Except for this matter of roots R.B.K. would think this P. hispidus Michx G 397; BvB III 113. Look very like ill BvB and reasonably like ill W.F. Q.N.Y. Pl 628. Petelvaeens like A and reasonably like ill (G) of P. hispidus. [See 6-17-38 5-30-38 Erigeron puleiellus Michx G 817; BvB III 439 Fl. Common. 5-30-38 Erigeron philadelphicus L.
