6-29-38 leaves 4-6 in long; the one at left w/ narrow blade 1/2 in very 20 st. lobes very naked. Nodes dark. Ligules short, and small rounded auricles; sheaths glabrous (see Bul. 114 E. ovina). Spft 2 in. Spikelets 10-15 mm, usually 5-6 flt. Lemma 5 mm long awn 2 mm. Aw rough. Ill. Francis v Hitchcock got enough. Lemma some- times slightly ciliatus towards tip (not "very ciliate" BvB.) 6-29-38 junceus articulatus L.G. 277; BvBI 477 Roadside southward. 6-29-38 Carex festucacea Schkuhr var brevica Fernald G. 221 me in C. festucacea BvBI 383 (See Francis 321) F2. Roadside southward or possibly along drive. Traced by key G. immediately to this. Ill very good. But the pale band on sheath not "conspicuous".
